Our priority is the learner. Always.

Our mission is to provide comparisons and recommendations for foreign language learners, so they do not waste any unncessary time on poor learning products and overpriced solutions.

So, how do we make money? Our partners compensate us, at no additional cost to the learner. This can influence the positioning of certain elements on Actual Fluency, but it never influences our recommendations, and reviews which are based on years of experience in the field. AFP 33 – Alberto Arrighini: Self-development and motivation

(Last Updated On: April 27, 2020)

Are you guys ready to get pumped up? How is your motivation doing today?

Today I'm joined by another young polyglot, Mr. Alberto Arrighini. I met Alberto in Berlin at the Polyglot Gathering, and we exchanged Facebook details. I didn't talk to him much after the event, but I kept seeing things from him in my news feed. He was waking up early, running, working out and posting pictures of inspirational quotes, books and much more.

This episode is by far the most motivational out of all 33 episodes.

Personal Development

This blog is mostly about learning languages, but in the very near future I think I'm going to branch slightly out and also extend the content to personal development. The alternative was to create a whole new blog, but I felt like this type of content could be of high value to you guys out there as well.

I discovered the whole personal development subject about 2 months ago when I loaded up YouTube videos with motivational music and speeches, and slowly began to realise that any limitation that we have, is only in our minds. We can have, be or achieve truly anything if we just program our mind to the task.

Naturally this is a learning process and whilst I have been getting up very early lately (compared to my post-noon during depression wake times) I'm not an expert in this either. All I can do is share my experiences as I perform them in my daily life.

The Episode

Show Notes

In this episode you will hear about:

  • How Alberto got into Languages
  • Why he started his Italian website
  • How he discovered self-improvement
  • The secret to success (in everything)
  • Why reading is powerful
  • His biggest idols
  • And much more to get you pumped and motivated for anything!

Alberto's top 5 of books for personal development

I'm not an avid reader, but lately I've opened my eyes to the benefits of reading personal development books and also the whole idea about unplugging from the computer and taking a breather. This typically means that I shut of the PC around 9-10 and then read for 30-60 minutes. In the last month I have read more books than my last 5 years, maybe 10 combined.

Of course I had to ask Alberto for his top list, as he is much farther in self development than me.

Alberto's Top 5

Napoleon Hill: Think and Grow Rich

Arnold Schwarzenegger: Total Recall

Robert Kiyosaki: Rich Dad Poor Dad

Wallace Wattles: The Science of Getting Rich

James Allen: As a Man Thinketh (free, quick read)
