What data we collect and why

Email address and name

If you sign up for the Actual Fluency Email Club, your name and email address are collected through a form on this site and stored in our own database, hosted by Cloudflare in the EU. Emails are delivered by Mailgun, whose EU region we use so the data stays in the EU. We use this to send you language learning tips, resource recommendations, and updates about new podcast episodes and articles. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.

Analytics

We use Umami Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Umami does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect any personally identifiable information. All data is aggregated and anonymous. No consent banner is required.

Contact form

If you submit the contact form, your name, email address, and message are used solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add contact form submissions to any marketing list without your explicit consent.

Cookies

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. If you dismiss the signup box, we remember that in your browser's local storage so we do not ask again. That is stored on your device, contains no personal data, and is never sent to us.

• Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@actualfluency.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency (datatilsynet.dk).

Data retention

Email subscribers are kept on our list until they unsubscribe or request deletion. Contact form submissions are retained only as long as needed to resolve the enquiry.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
