The Actual Fluency Podcast
Today is a very exciting episode on the Actual Fluency Podcast. Today I'm happy to present Sonja Lang, the creator of Toki Pona on the show. I had communicated briefly with Sonja over Facebook before meeting her in person in Berlin. The Toki Pona presentation, done by my friend Chris Huff, was one of the most popular ones so I KNEW I had to get Sonja on the show to pick her brain on languages, conlanging and Toki Pona of course.Continue reading
Today I bring on the man behind the Add1Challenge: Brian Kwong. I sadly started my language learning journey slightly after the first Add1Challenge, but just based on sheer popularity I knew I had to join the next one. I also ran into Brian in Berlin so it was great to meet him in person as well.
On the episode today we discuss the new Add1Challenge, where the signup process starts TODAY! and runs onto the 18th of July. Be sure to sign up before and make your application as good as it can be as the spots are limited to 150 people.Continue reading
Today I'm happy to welcome on Niels Iversen to the show, those who have frequented the HTLAL forums will be very familiar with Niels as he frequently posts on there and he has one of the most visited threads on the entire forum, where he posts in multiple languages about learning languages and his unique approach to the whole thing.
He is also very helpful in the other parts of the forums, often helping in languages that he has knowledge of.
On this episode I am super excited to welcome Lauren and Benny to the podcast, I had been trying to get Benny on the show for a good while to talk about his book, but due to a busy schedule he was unavailable. Then by the time we set up an interview in Berlin he had already been asked just about any possible question about the book, so I had to think deep in order to provide an angle where we could learn something from Benny, but without it being him responding to the same old questions he had been asked time and time again.Continue reading

Today is a very exciting episode of the Actual Fluency Podcast. If you have listened to the podcast or even read my blog before, you will have noticed that I recommend Memrise A LOT. To me it's just the perfect learning environment for foreign language vocabulary (and more!). Today I'm very fortunate to be joined by the Chief Operating Officer of Memrise himself, Ben Whately, in order to provide some greater insights into just how Memrise works, the science behind it and what the future holds for the development.Continue reading
