AFP 48 – Mike Campbell: Sentence-based learning and Glossika

On today's podcast episode I'm joined by Glossika founder, Michael Campbell. Mike and I talk about sentence-based language learning and how Glossika works. We also get into the state of language learning today, as well as a lot of other good stuff!

A note on the recording quality

The recording conditions were not ideal for this episode, which means that there are some static and slight volume inconsistencies. I apologise for this, and I will promise to work harder on it going forward. The reason for the poor quality is that I'm using a different computer from the one that broke on me a few weeks back, which takes some getting used to.

One of my ambitions for Season 2 is to streamline the recording process, upgrade the equipmenе and get professional help to ensure the quality level is at the maximum.

Speaking of the upcoming season, you can still support the crowdfund for it and get exclusive rewards!

Check them out here: http://igg.me/at/afpodcast

Thank you for any support (even if it's just sharing the crowdfund on social media) I'm very grateful.

  • Bob

Is there an ETA on Japanese?

    • Sara E. Foster

They don’t do ETAs any more, as courses might be delayed a lot (as happened with the Japanese course). Other courses get developed quickly.

    • Chris Broholm

Hi Bob, I asked Mike about and he said due to Chinese New Year they won’t be working much more this month. Once March rolls around we should be able to get some more information 🙂

      • Bob

        Thanks for the update.

  • Thanks for telling me about Glossika, I had never heard of it before.

  • Jason Hall

So, do you tweet about Glossika and wait for them to give you a second coupon code, or do you follow the steps above and they will give you the second 10% off?

    • Chris Broholm

Good question, Jason! I understood it as you go through the steps and then the last discount is a cashback…but let me ping Mike about it to be sure.

      • Jason Hall

Thanks, Chris! I’ve been thinking about trying Glossika and this is a great deal. I just want to make sure I do it right.

      • Jason Hall

FYI, I tweeted about Glossika with the hashtag, and they gave me a personalized code to use at checkout.

        • Chris Broholm

          great! 🙂 that’s awesome

  • Thanks for a great episode! I needed a boost for my language-learning, and this episode did it for me. I realized I’m sick of learning words on Anki, so doing some more phrase- and sentence-based studying has got me invigorated again.
